Thank God this is only a season.

In case you were wondering how our Monday went...took 30 minutes to get nate in a clean diaper and clothes, getting into car seats was like WWIII, had a moment of peace and sweetness while sharing a very late breakfast plate, an afternoon of movies and throwing all our toys (sometimes at mom) and crushing crackers into the carpet, and falling asleep in our toy car thirty minutes before dinner...which will probably make for an interesting bedtime. Being this boy’s mom is my favorite thing, but it is really, really hard. And I know many of you will be tempted to comment that I need to cherish these years because they go by fast. And you’re right. These are precious days, and they do go very fast. But they are also so, so, so very hard, and I think it’s okay for us to think, “You know, I’m totally happy with the fact that one day my child will speak in full sentences to tell me what’s wrong, and I won’t have to wrestle them into a diaper.” I think we all need to remember that being happy with knowing toddlerhood is only a season doesn’t mean you don’t cherish your child.
